Sunday Crossword: Daily Puzzle · Last updated 26 October 2026
Sunday Crossword: Daily Puzzle is a free, single-player crossword puzzle game for Android, made by Alper Akar, an independent developer based in Türkiye. This policy explains what data the game, its advertising partners (Google AdMob and, through AdMob mediation, Unity Ads and Liftoff Monetize) and Google Firebase process.
In short
The game has no accounts of its own, and we do not collect your name, email address or anything else that directly identifies you. To learn how the game is played and to fix crashes, it uses Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (see below). It shows a small banner ad from Google AdMob at the top of the screen, and full-screen ads only when you choose to watch one for an in-game bonus. Ads are delivered by Google AdMob, which may fill an ad request with an ad from one of its mediation partners (Unity Ads or Liftoff Monetize). To serve the ads, these companies process some data from your device, as described below. The game itself can be played offline; ads need an internet connection.
Ads (Google AdMob)
When the game loads or shows an ad, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which can be used to estimate your approximate location), information about your device and the app (such as model, operating system, language and app version), your interactions with ads (such as views and taps), and crash and performance diagnostics. Google uses this data to deliver, measure and, where you allow it, personalise ads, and to prevent fraud and abuse.

Mediation partners. To show more ads that fit and to keep the game free, Google AdMob can pass an ad request to the following ad networks, which compete to show the ad. When one of them serves an ad, its software in the game may process the same kinds of data described above (advertising ID, IP address and approximate location, device and app information, ad interactions and diagnostics) to deliver, measure and, where you allow it, personalise ads, and to prevent fraud. Your choices under Settings → Ad preferences and in your Android settings apply to them as well. Their privacy policies: Unity Ads (unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy) and Liftoff Monetize, formerly Vungle (liftoff.ai/privacy-policy).
Banner ads
The game shows a small banner ad at the top of the screen. Unlike the optional ads you watch for a bonus, banners appear without you choosing to watch them, but they do not cover the game controls and you never need to tap them. Banners are loaded through Google AdMob in the same way and with the same data as described above, and your choices under Settings → Ad preferences and in your Android settings apply to them as well. Without an internet connection no banners are loaded, and the game still works. Banners can also be filled by AdMob's mediation partners described above.
Usage statistics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
The game uses Google Firebase Analytics to count how it is played: for example when it is opened, which puzzles you play and whether you chose to watch an ad and how it ended. With these events Firebase processes a random app instance ID, your device model, operating system and language, the app version and your IP address (used to estimate your country and region). If the game crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report with the same kind of device information and a random installation ID. We do not link these IDs to your name, email or advertising ID, and we use the data only to improve the game. Usage statistics are kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days.
To send occasional game news, the game uses Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which gives your device a random token. News is sent to everyone who has the game, never to you personally, and the token is not linked to your name, email or advertising ID.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, usage statistics are stored only after you agree in the game's consent form, and you can change your choice in the game's settings. Clearing the game's storage starts a new random ID. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Your choices
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game asks for your consent before ads are personalised, using Google's consent tool, and you can change your choice at any time under Settings → Ad preferences. Wherever you are, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalisation, in your Android settings. Watching full-screen ads is always optional: you can play the whole game without watching any.
Data stored on your device
Your level, XP, solved crosswords, daily puzzle scores and streak, missions, unlocked tables, the crossword in progress and your settings (such as sound, reminders and grid display) are saved inside the app on your own device. We cannot see them. Uninstalling the game or clearing its data deletes them.
If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include this game data in your device backup. That backup is handled by Google under your account settings; we have no access to it.
Permissions
- Internet and network state, used to load ads and to send usage statistics and crash reports.
- Advertising ID and Android's ad services (such as ad measurement), used by the Google Mobile Ads SDK and its mediation partners as described above.
- Wake lock and foreground service, used by Android's scheduling library (WorkManager), which schedules the daily reminder and which the ads SDK relies on.
- Notifications (Android 13 and newer), asked once and used for the daily reminder and occasional game news (such as a new weekly challenge). You can turn notifications off in the game's settings or in Android settings.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
